Desert safari Dubai, by morning or by night

Our desert safari Dubai trips collect you from your door, hand the steering wheel to a licensed desert driver and spend 25 to 30 minutes crossing the red dunes outside Dubai in a Land Cruiser 4x4. Choose a short morning out with sandboarding, a full evening at a Bedouin-style camp, the same evening with a quad bike ride, or a private car for your own group.

Four safari packages to choose from

How a Dubai desert safari runs with us

Each of our four packages opens with the same three steps. A shared or private Land Cruiser picks you up from a hotel, home or apartment, the drive heads out of the city to the red sand, and then your driver takes the 4x4 across the dunes for a dune bashing run of roughly 25 to 30 minutes. You never drive the car yourself. That job belongs to a desert-safari-licensed driver who reads the slopes for a living.

After the dunes, the day splits two ways. A morning group stays out for sandboarding, a camel ride and cold drinks, then heads back to the city around lunchtime. An evening group drives on to a desert camp for tea, henna, a camel ride, sunset, a BBQ buffet and three stage shows, and gets home at about half past nine.

That is the whole idea of a desert safari Dubai package: you get the dunes, the transport and the guiding in one fare, and nobody needs a rental car or a map. The cards above show the four options side by side, and the sections below help you pick one.

Morning or evening: which safari slot suits you

Pick the morning if your evenings in Dubai are already spoken for. The morning desert safari takes about four hours from door to door, so you are back at your hotel between noon and half past twelve. The sand is cooler at that hour, the light is soft for photos, and sandboarding is part of the trip. There is no meal, only soft drinks and cold water, so have breakfast first.

Go in the evening if you want the classic camp night most visitors imagine. The shared evening trip lasts six to seven hours door to door and adds a camel ride, henna painting, sunset on the sand, an international BBQ buffet and live entertainment after dark. It costs a little more than the morning and fills the whole afternoon and evening.

Families with small children often prefer the morning because it ends before the heat of the day and long before bedtime. Groups who are in Dubai for one night out usually pick the evening. If your dates allow it, some guests do one of each on different days.

What each safari fare covers

Every fare below already includes pickup and drop-off, the Land Cruiser transfer and the dune bashing. Three are priced per person; the private safari is priced per car.

  • Morning, AED 225 per person: a shared Land Cruiser with up to 6 people per car, the dune run, a turn on a sandboard, a camel ride and chilled drinks, home before lunch.
  • Evening with Bedouin BBQ, AED 240 per person: dune bashing, a tea-and-coffee welcome at camp, camels and henna, free-flowing soft drinks, dinner from the BBQ buffet and three shows.
  • Evening with BBQ and a 30-minute ATV quad, AED 375 per person: the same camp evening plus your own quad bike for half an hour. This is our best seller.
  • Private evening, AED 1,400 per car: one car and one driver for a party of up to 6, a dune run for you alone and a camp table kept for your group, with the same dinner and shows.

Inside the evening camp

You reach the camp after the dune bashing, while there is still daylight. The welcome is Arabic tea and coffee with Arabic sweets and fresh fruit, then the slower part of the evening begins: a short camel ride, henna painting for anyone who wants it, and time to watch the sun go down over the dunes. Soft drinks, water, tea and coffee keep coming all evening.

Dinner is a buffet with vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, so mixed groups can all eat well. Once night falls, a light and sound show starts things off, followed by a belly dance set, a fire show and the Tanura, a spinning dance in a wide, colourful skirt. Photos are welcome throughout the night.

Two things cost extra at the camp: alcohol and sheesha. Both can be bought there if you want them, and neither is part of any safari fare. Everything else on the evening programme is already paid for when you book.

Pickup times and how the transfer works

Pickup is part of every safari fare. We collect from your hotel lobby, apartment building or villa anywhere in Dubai or Sharjah. Morning cars start their rounds early, and guests further from the desert road are often collected first so the whole car leaves on time. The evening schedule moves with the season to keep you out of the hottest part of the afternoon.

We confirm your exact time on WhatsApp the afternoon before your trip. Please be ready in the lobby a few minutes early, because one late guest holds up everyone else in the car.

  • Morning, Downtown, Marina and central Dubai: collected 8:30-9:00 AM, home again 12:00-12:30 PM.
  • Morning, outer Dubai and Sharjah: collected 7:30-8:00 AM, home again 12:00-12:30 PM.
  • Evening, winter (October to March): collected 2:45-3:30 PM, home again 9:30-9:45 PM.
  • Evening, summer (April to September): collected 3:45-4:30 PM, home again 9:30-9:45 PM.

Children, groups and the private car

On the evening trips, guests from 12 up pay the adult fare, kids between 5 and 11 get a lower child price, and toddlers of 2 or 3 ride free. The reduced rate is confirmed when you book. Please give us the age of every child in your party so we can price the booking correctly and suggest the best slot.

For a family or a group of friends, the private evening desert safari gives you a Land Cruiser and driver for your party alone. With six people it works out at about AED 233 each, with four it is AED 350 each, and for two it is AED 700 each. The camp shows are still shared with other guests, but your seating and service are separate.

Groups larger than six need a second private car, which is quoted separately. Tell us your full group size when you enquire so we can check that one car fits everyone.

What to wear and bring on the dunes

Light, comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes work for every package. Sand gets into everything, so zip your phone into a pocket before the dune bashing starts and leave jewellery in the room.

Morning guests should pack a light jacket or sweater, because the desert can feel cool at pickup time. Evening guests need a light layer for after sunset, when the temperature drops quickly. Sunglasses, a hat or a scarf help on the dune bashing leg, and a charged phone or camera is worth having for the sunset and the shows.

Booking, payment and changes

To book a desert safari Dubai trip, pick a package, press Book now and fill in the online form. You pay by card in AED, your seats are locked in once payment clears, and our team emails a written confirmation. Prefer chat? Message us on WhatsApp with your date, group size and pickup address, and we will set it up with you there.

One or two days of notice covers the usual calendar. Weekends in December and January, and UAE public holidays, need more like four to seven days. Our team runs as a licensed Dubai desert tour operator with plain rules; read how refunds and date changes work on our cancellation policy page.

Want to drive something yourself on another day? Our quad biking and dune buggy sessions run on the same red dunes, and the standalone camel ride gives you a longer, quieter ride than the camp stop.

Questions, answered

Desert safaris: FAQ

How much is a desert safari in Dubai with you?

Our morning safari costs AED 225 per person. The evening safari with Bedouin BBQ dinner is AED 240 per person, and the same evening with a 30-minute ATV quad ride is AED 375 per person. A private car for the evening costs AED 1,400 and seats up to six people. Pickup and drop-off are included in all four fares.

Do all your safaris include pickup from my hotel?

Yes. All four safari fares cover the return transfer, whether you are staying in a hotel, an apartment or a family home in Dubai or Sharjah. Morning pickups start between 7:30 and 9:00 AM depending on your area, and evening pickups run in the afternoon. We confirm your exact pickup time on WhatsApp the afternoon before your trip.

Which safari package is best for young children?

Most families with small children choose the morning safari. It lasts about four hours, finishes by lunchtime and avoids a late night. On the evening trips, toddlers of 2 or 3 go free, while children from 5 to 11 are charged a reduced child fare. Share each child's age with us and we will point you to the right option.

How long does the dune bashing last, and who drives?

The dune bashing lasts about 25 to 30 minutes on every package. A desert-safari-licensed professional driver handles the Land Cruiser the whole time, so you only ride along. To do some driving yourself, book the AED 375 evening package, which gives you a quad bike of your own for 30 minutes.

Is breakfast or lunch included on the morning safari?

No meal is served on the morning safari. The fare covers soft drinks and cold water, along with the dune bashing, sandboarding and a camel ride. Eat breakfast before your pickup. If you want dinner in the desert, choose one of the evening safaris, which include an international BBQ buffet at the camp.

Can vegetarians eat well at the evening camp?

Yes. The camp buffet has both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, and the same menu is served on the shared and the private evening safaris. Drinks such as water, tea, coffee and sodas flow freely until you leave. If anyone in your group has a food concern, mention it when you book.

Are alcohol and sheesha part of the evening fare?

No. Alcohol and sheesha are available at the desert camp at an extra charge, paid there. Neither is included in any safari price. The fare does include unlimited water, tea, coffee and soft drinks, the BBQ buffet dinner, the camel ride, henna painting and the three live shows.

How far ahead should I book a safari, and how do I pay?

One or two days ahead is usually enough. For December and January weekends or UAE public holidays, book four to seven days ahead. Card payment in AED happens online, and your seats are held once it goes through. A written confirmation follows by email, and you can also book through WhatsApp.
