Questions, answered
Dune Buggy Dubai: all questions
Which buggy has the most power?
Of our three buggies, only the 2 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 has a turbocharged engine. It costs AED 999 per buggy for 30 minutes and seats a driver and one passenger. If you want more room rather than more power, the 4 Seater Polaris RZR takes a family of four for AED 800.
Can I book a longer buggy session than 30 minutes?
Yes. Every buggy can be booked for 30, 60 or 120 minutes. Our published prices are for the 30-minute session, while longer sessions are priced on request over WhatsApp, so send us your preferred buggy, date and duration and we will reply with the figure before you commit.
Do I drive the buggy myself, or does a guide drive?
You drive. An adult from your group takes the wheel and follows a guide who leads the convoy over the dunes and keeps the pace comfortable for the least experienced driver. The buggies are automatic, so there are only the throttle, the brake and the steering to think about, and no gears or clutch.
What do I need to bring to check-in for a buggy ride?
Bring your booking confirmation and photo ID for the driver, and wear closed-toe shoes. At check-in every driver signs a standard liability form before the safety briefing starts. Helmets and goggles are handed out on site, and drinking water is provided, so you do not need any equipment of your own.
Which quad bike should a first-time rider choose?
Children aged 5 to 11 start on the COBRA quad in a fenced practice area. Adults new to quads usually pick the Single Seater, which follows a guide in the open desert for AED 250 per rider. The Yamaha Grizzly, at AED 350, is our largest quad and suits riders who already feel comfortable on one.
Can my child ride a quad on their own?
Yes, from age 5 to 11 on the COBRA Single Seater Quad Bike, which costs AED 200 for 30 minutes. Kids circle a fenced practice zone, and an adult from the family watches from the fence the whole time. Under-5s are not allowed to ride, and we suggest checking age and height with us on WhatsApp before booking.
What safety gear comes with a quad session?
Every quad rider gets a helmet, goggles and gloves, and the price also pays for fuel, the briefing and as much bottled water as you need. Nothing is charged extra for gear. From home, bring just closed-toe shoes, light clothes and sunscreen, and keep loose scarves at home so nothing catches while you ride.
Who can ride the open-desert quads?
Both the Single Seater and the Yamaha Grizzly head out into open sand behind a guide, and each needs an adult rider. Nobody needs a driving licence, since the routes cross private sand and never touch a public road. If you have a teenager in your group, ask us on WhatsApp what would suit them before you book.
What time does the morning desert safari collect guests?
Pickup depends on your address. Hotels in Downtown, Dubai Marina and central Dubai are collected around 8:30 to 9:00 AM, while outer Dubai and Sharjah addresses are collected from 7:30 to 8:00 AM. Drop-off for all guests is around 12:00 to 12:30 PM, and your own pickup time is sent the afternoon before.
How do the two evening safaris with dinner differ?
Each one includes pickup, dune bashing of roughly 25 to 30 minutes, camels, henna painting, a BBQ buffet dinner and live shows with belly dance, fire and Tanura. Our Evening Desert Safari + Bedouin BBQ Dinner Experience, without a quad, costs AED 240 a head. For AED 375, the other evening package adds a 30-minute ATV quad ride.
Do children pay the full rate on evening safaris?
No. On our evening safaris, kids from 5 to 11 have a lower rate, and little ones aged 2 or 3 come along for free. Guests aged 12 and over pay the adult price. Send us your children's ages on WhatsApp and we will confirm the exact total for your family before you pay.
How many people can share the private evening safari?
Up to six. The Private Evening Desert Safari costs AED 1,400 per car, and your group keeps the car, the dune drive and its own reserved camp table to itself. If you are more than six, a second private car is needed, which is not included in the price, so ask us for a quote.
Are drinks included at the evening desert camp?
Every evening safari price covers unlimited soft drinks, water, tea and coffee at the camp. Alcohol and sheesha are not included, but they can be bought on site for an extra charge. Tips for the team are optional, and entirely up to you at the end of the evening.
How early do balloon pickups start?
Balloon guests are collected between 3:45 and 4:30 AM, because the balloon has to be inflated and ready to fly when the sun comes up. Pickup is free from anywhere in Dubai on all three packages. We send your personal pickup time by WhatsApp on the day before the flight.
In which months are there no balloon flights?
There are no hot air balloon flights in June, July or August. Flights pause for the summer, so the season stops after May and restarts on 1 September. October to April usually gives the most reliable flying conditions, and booking early in your stay leaves room for a second attempt.
What are the age limits for a balloon flight?
Adults aged 12 to 80 pay the adult price, and children from 7 to 11 join a paying adult in the basket. Children under 7 cannot fly, and the flights are not open to pregnant guests. Please share every passenger's age when you book so the crew can plan your group's place in the basket.
Is the KTM 450 dirt bike suitable for beginners?
It is best for people who already ride. The KTM Dirt Bike 450 CC is a full-size motocross machine, and you need to be at ease handling a bike of that size before booking. Sessions last one, two or three hours, a guide escorts you the whole way, and the price is given on request.
What gear do I get for the dirt bike ride?
You get a full-face helmet, goggles, body armour and gloves, plus a pre-ride safety briefing and unlimited mineral water. We do not provide boots, so ride in your own or in strong closed-toe shoes. Hotel transfers and photo or video packages are extras you can ask about on WhatsApp.
How long does a camel ride last, and who leads it?
Each camel ride lasts about 20 to 25 minutes per person. A Bedouin handler walks beside the camel for the entire ride, helps you climb on and off, and stops for photos with the dunes behind you. No experience is needed, children can usually sit with an adult, and the price is on request.
Which cards can I pay with?
We accept Visa and MasterCard, charged in AED on our secure booking site, and there is no fee for paying by card. Full payment is needed to secure a reservation. Your written confirmation then arrives by email, at the latest within 48 hours, with the date, time and details of your package.
How do I send a cancellation request?
Email info@dune-buggy-dubai.net, because cancellations are accepted by email only. Include your name, the tour and its date. The moment your email reaches us decides which fee tier applies, and we reply to confirm. Until that confirmation arrives, please treat your booking as still active.
How much is refunded when I cancel?
It depends on timing and group size. For bookings under four people, cancelling 96 hours or more ahead means no cancellation fee, cancelling at least 48 hours ahead carries a 50% fee, and cancelling within 24 hours carries a 100% fee. Groups of four or more pay a 50% fee from 7 days before departure, rising to 100% within the final 5 days. A 5% processing fee is kept from every refund.
What if the weather stops my activity?
If we cancel because of a sandstorm, rain or wind, the choice is yours: pick a fresh date for free, or take a refund under our cancellation policy, less the 5% processing fee. Balloons need calm air at dawn, so a flight only goes ahead when conditions are safe.
Can I move my booking to another date?
Yes. Rescheduling is free, subject to availability, whatever you booked with us. Send your booking reference and preferred new date on WhatsApp, ideally with a second choice in case the first is full, as early as you can, and we will confirm the change in the same chat.
How far in advance should I reserve?
A day or two of notice covers most of the year. Give us four to seven days instead for UAE public holidays, and for December or January weekends. Same-day buggy and quad rides are often possible if you message us on WhatsApp before noon for an afternoon slot.
