Desert camel ride Dubai, led by a Bedouin handler

A desert camel ride Dubai session of 20-25 minutes per person on the red dunes at Al Badayer. Your handler walks beside the camel the whole way, helps you on and off, and stops for photos. The rate is quoted on WhatsApp.

Overview

This is our camel ride on its own, without a full safari around it. You meet your handler at Al Badayer, listen to a short briefing, climb into the saddle and spend 20 to 25 minutes crossing the red dunes at a slow, swaying walk. The handler leads the camel on foot the entire time, so all you need to do is sit back, hold on when the camel stands up and kneels down, and enjoy the view from up high.

We do not post a fixed price, because the rate moves with availability from day to day. Message us on WhatsApp with your date and group size and we tell you today's rate straight away. The fee covers the guided ride, the safety briefing, help with mounting and dismounting, and a photo stop with the dunes behind you.

Our morning and evening safaris already include a shorter camel ride as one activity among many. Choose this desert camel ride Dubai booking when you want more time on the camel, a time of day that suits your photos, or a calm outing for a family. See the camel ride guide for tips on timing and what to expect.

Timing makes a big difference to the photos. The red of the sand shows best when the sun is low, so the hour after sunrise and the last stretch before sunset are the slots most guests ask for. Rides run all day from 5 AM to 8 PM, so pick the slot that suits your plans. Whichever you choose, wear closed-toe shoes, bring sunglasses and sunscreen, and keep your phone on a strap so it stays safe in the saddle.

At the Al Badayer meeting point, your handler introduces you to your camel and explains how to mount, sit and dismount safely.

  2. Get into the saddle

Settle into the saddle and hold on as the camel rises to its full height, while the handler keeps it steady.

  3. 20-25 minutes

    Guided ride

The handler walks alongside and leads the camel over the red dunes at an easy pace that suits photos. Younger children normally sit with a grown-up.

  4. Photos and wrap-up

Questions, answered

Camel Ride in Desert: questions

Why do you quote the camel ride rate on request?

The rate depends on availability, and that shifts daily, which is why each booking gets its own quote. Message us with the date, how many people are riding and the time you have in mind, and we come back with the current figure. Your written confirmation then shows the agreed price before the ride.

How long will I actually be riding?

On our desert camel ride Dubai session, each person rides for 20 to 25 minutes. The briefing, mounting, dismounting and pictures take extra time, so the whole visit usually lasts between 45 and 60 minutes. The handler keeps to a gentle walk, so the ride never feels rushed.

Can my children ride the camel?

Usually, yes. Children can normally ride seated with an adult, and the handler leads the camel on foot the whole time. Suitability depends on age, so send us each child's age and we will check before you book. The photo stop at the end of the ride is a good moment for a family picture.

Where do we meet, and how do I get there?

We meet at Al Badayer, and the exact pin comes with your confirmation. The camel rate has no pickup in it, so most people drive or grab a taxi; allow 45 to 60 minutes from the centre of Dubai. A paid transfer is possible from Downtown, Business Bay, Dubai Marina or Deira if you would rather not drive.

How is this different from the camel ride on a safari?

The safari camel ride is a short stop inside a longer trip, between dune bashing, sandboarding or the camp evening. This standalone ride gives you a full 20 to 25 minutes on the dunes with a photo stop, at a time you choose. Book it when the camel is the part you care about most.

Do I need to be fit to ride a camel?

No particular fitness is needed, because the handler walks the camel and you only sit in the saddle. The only moment to hold on is when the camel stands up and kneels again, and the handler steadies the camel while it does. Mention any health or mobility concerns when you ask for a quote.
